It's Beginning To Smell A Lot Like Xmas - new song from the Socks

Brand new from the Socks, a Christmas number one if ever we heard one - It's Beginning To Smell A Lot Like Christmas. Click and enjoy.

I wrote this just before we went up to Kibworth last Christmas, on Christmas Eve itself I seem to recall, so I had no time to put it online before it went out of date and have sat on it for a year. It actually got a live airing at the Leicester Comedy Festival previews for Superheroes back in February, but sadly I've lost the footage. So, with vocals finally recorded this week and a video shot on Hill Road in Clevedon (I still don't have a studio set up for my green screen), here's the video the world's been waiting for. What's that you say? You want the lyrics? Oh, go on then...

IT'S BEGINNING TO SMELL A LOT LIKE XMAS

It's beginning to smell a lot like Xmas
Because of the brussell sprouts
With potatoes and beans as well
Contributing to the smell
Which let's face it is better in than out

It's beginning to smell a lot like Xmas
Wafting from every door
And the prettiest sight we know's
When you open the windows
And let it out once more

A string of trumpeting poots from a bottom that toots
Are the gift of Grandad and Gran
And a couple of si-a-lent ones that are violent
Seem to have started with Nan
And there's a fog must be the dog
It cannot be human

It's beginning to smell a lot like Xmas
Everywhere you turn
Is it cabbage or is it leeks?
Whatever it is it reeks
And nobody strike a match cos it'll burn

It's beginning to smell a lot like Xmas
It's getting worse, I think you'll find
That the biggest relief will come
When we get to set off home
And leave the smell behind

The kind that get in your face and the ones you can taste
Are the sort where father excels
But your Mum and your sister will always insist
that they're blamed on somebody else
And one of you has followed through and done a poo as well

It's beginning to smell a lot like Xmas
Nobody can breathe
And when everyone's had enough
Of the other peoples guff
Then we'll have to leave
