(This weekend at Llangollen, with its many hours of driving and more hours stood in a freezing shed led to me posting on Facebook asking what we all expect from cons. It elicited this marvellous response from Gordon Rennie:
"I HATE the modern comic con model. Everyone sitting in rows behind their wee tables, selling their array of tat, to fans who become just customers.
If I’d wanted a career in retail, I wouldn’t have given up that job in Waterstones 36 years ago.
Spending your weekends doing this in an assortment of provincial sports halls and community venues masquerading as ‘comic cons’ just looks like long, slow, lingering death of the creative spirit."
His words, not mine.)

(I did three classes in a day, the morning class was full, 28 kids and I only sold 2 books; the afternoon class slightly less full, 26 kids, and I sold 7 books; the evening class only had 4 punters in it, only 3 of them kids, and I sold 2 books again. You can never predict who will be buyers, sometimes.)
April 9 - Edgware Library - 5 books (£39)
1 x Richard col
2 x PODS
1 x FM, MNDT
(2 full classes of kids, hardly a book sold. The classes were free, whereas when the classes are ticketed they attract ‘buying’ parents. Understandably. )

5 x Kids comics (2 Sausages, 2 Baked Beans, 1 Poopy Doo Doo Heads)
(Quite the most surprising run of book sales from two classes with only 15 kids in each. It helped that all the parents were watching throughout and really enjoyed the class. Happy parents buy merch, obviously)

Lulu Sales April 2026 tbc
I don't know why April 10th should have seen a blip of 44 downloads, but that was the exception that proved the rule, probably a bot. With no new episodes uploaded since March 22nd, the podcast slides back into obscurity.
Blurb Sales April 2026 - 0 books, £0
Second month of monitoring this feature, after March saw 300,00 views suddenly happen, all bots. As you can see from the graph above, April went wilder but seems to have calmed down. And the grand total earned from adverts is still about 2p a day. Those adverts will be going soon.
