I couldn't be more pleased with my new banner, which was unleashed upon the public for the first time this weekend at the UKCGF comicon in Paignton. I mean, I could have hoped there'd be more people to see it, but they'll come.
The design came to mind when I saw my banner behind my table at the Illustrators Showcase in Islington at the start of the month, and I realised my previous banner just didn't look that good. Not the one you see a bit of above, with my original three Shakespeare books on in vertical slices. That still looks good I think. But my second banner, which features Richard The Third, Space Elain, and Tales From The Bible. It just doesn't quite come up to scratch, and features the now-defunct "Dogman" style logo, which I've phased out.
So I came away from that event with the idea for this new one, specially designed to fit the proportions of a pop up banner, and featuring my Shakespeare characters in a specially done drawing.
They are, from the top, Bottom, Will Shakespeare, Lear and Puck (from as-yet unpublished books), Richard, Duke Of Buckingham (the Unicorn), Titania (from published books), and Titania (from the unpublished version of the same book), Romeo and Juliet, Duke Of Gloucester (the Teddy bear), Viola, Feste, and Tybalt (all unpublished), and finally Findlay Macbeth and Joe Hamlet, from my earliest books.
Now I have to keep working on those unpublished books and see if my agent and I can change their status in the coming year. Watch this space.
