HK Berwick, having written their two debut novels at the end of 2022, is finally putting them on sale at the start of 2024 and I am helping with their marketing campaign.
Dead Man's Jest goes live on Kindle on Jan 20th, with To Slay The Dane following in February.
The first thing we have tried to promote them is a Facebook ad. It ran for 7 days, reached 2206 people, cost £17.47, and got 104 link clicks. At the end of that week, Dead Man's Jest had 9 advance orders and To Slay The Dane had 6. Once the ad campaign stopped, pre-sales stopped.
A second ad campaign is about to start. Running for another 7 days, this time it is aimed at the USA as well as the UK, and targets readers, cozy mystery, crime fiction, e-books and books. Let us see what that does to uptake.
Update: After a week of the second ad campaign pre sales had not gone up a single inch. DMJ has 11 (which it had just before the campaign launched) and TSTD still has 6. Not a single ARC review has been posted, after 24 people have downloaded the book.
