I can't imagine it's quite so peaceful at this very moment, or quite so free of flyers, tourists, people on stilts, and student theatre groups dressed like ninnies desperately trying to promote their shows by lying down in the street and being stepped over. Ah, missing it already. (Yes, those are the Socks, the entire touring show in those two bags I'm carrying).
Of course the Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre aren't at Edinburgh this year. A fact of which you might be quite glad when you see the smug way we were behaving on this day three years ago...
